DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
A full-body MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) for preventive purposes refers to a comprehensive imaging examination of the entire body using magnetic resonance technology. This type of MRI is performed proactively, often as a screening tool, to detect any potential abnormalities or health issues before they cause symptoms.
A heart scan, also known as a coronary calcium scan or coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan, is a medical imaging test used to assess the presence and extent of calcium deposits (calcifications) in the coronary arteries of the heart. These calcifications can be an early sign of coronary artery disease (CAD), a condition in which the arteries that supply blood to the heart become narrowed or blocked by plaque buildup.
A CIMT, also known as a carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) is a non-invasive ultrasound test that measures the thickness of the inner layers of the carotid arteries in the neck. Elevated CIMT values indicate atherosclerosis, the buildup of plaque in the arteries, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Monitoring CIMT helps doctors detect early signs of arterial damage, allowing for timely interventions to reduce cardiovascular risks and maintain vascular health.
